Sun News Desk : A student of Dhaka University was kidnapped by miscreants from Sajek at Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati on Wednesday.

Deepika Chakma who is a postgraduate student of Public Administration Department of Dhaka University. She is a resident of Khagrachari Sadar Upazila.

Local said Deepika was visiting the tourist area of Sajek with her friends. The miscreants abducted her from Zero mile area near Ruiluipara tourist spot on the way.

Later her friends informed the matter to law enforcement. The members of the law and order forces started working to rescue him after receiving the information.

Atulal Chakma, Sajek Union Parishad Chairman, confirmed the matter and said that a while back a tourist has been kidnapped from the Zero mile area. However, it is not possible to say who caused this incident. Law enforcement agencies are looking into the matter.

Rumana Akhtar, Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), said we are giving utmost importance of girl abduction. Police have already started an operation to rescue the student. We hope she can be rescued soon.
