If Agriculture does not Improve, Bangladesh will not Improve: Agriculture Minister

Staff Correspondent: Agriculture Minister. Md. Abdur Razzak said, “If agriculture does not improve, Bangladesh will not improve. That is why the agri-friendly government is giving utmost importance to agriculture. Providing low interest agricultural loans to farmers. The prices of all agricultural inputs including fertilizers and irrigation have been reduced and agricultural inputs have been made available. ”

He was speaking as the chief guest at the 'Farmers' Rally and Field Day' organized by the Bangladesh Atomic Agriculture Research Institute (BINA) at Dhanbari in Tangail on Wednesday (December 30th).

The minister said, “The government has taken all measures to alleviate the suffering of the farmers. During the BNP rule, the farmers had to cry for agricultural inputs. There was a movement for fertilizer. The BNP killed 18 farmers protesting for fertilizer. ”

He said, “If mustard is cultivated as an additional crop without reducing the production of paddy, the agricultural sector of the country will benefit immensely. Farmers will also benefit. If non-16 varieties of paddy are cultivated in the aman season, it is possible to increase another crop before boro paddy. It is mustard without invention. Cultivate this mustard before boro. ”

Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak said, “Farmers' interest in mustard cultivation is declining. But a huge amount of edible oil has to be imported from abroad every year. This is why a lot of foreign currency is spent. Planting mustard in the middle of the Aman and Boro seasons will not reduce the yield of paddy on the one hand, and save hard-earned foreign exchange in the import sector on the other. ”

Among others, the director general of Bina. Mirza Mofazzal Islam, PSO. Md. Shahidul Islam, Asiya Ahsan Ali, Saiful Islam Belal, Vice President of Women's Degree College spoke on the occasion.
