Staff Reporter: The Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina has said that the government has made extensive preparations to deal with the current situation of the Corona epidemic and the possible second wave in the winter season.
She said that under the visionary leadership of the present Awami League government, timely decision making and efficient management has so far been able to successfully tackle the Covid-19 global epidemic. Although the prevalence of Covid-19 in Bangladesh has decreased a bit at the moment, experts stated that it may increase again at any moment or in the coming winter. The second wave has already started in Europe and America.
Wednesday (November 18) night, the speaker said, the information was given in a written reply to a question by Didarul Alam, a Member of Parliament from the ruling party, during the question and answer session of the Prime Minister, which was raised at a table in the Parliament session chaired by Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
The Prime Minister said Covid-19 has created a terrible situation all over the world. Although scientists feared that an unknown virus would cause a global epidemic, no one could have imagined that it would spread so rapidly around the world and create a new history by challenging the conventional grammars of pathology.
The leader of the parliament further said that extensive preparations have been made to deal with the second wave of corona and the fear of an increase in the number of infections in winter. The government has made extensive preparations to deal with the current situation and a possible second wave of the Corona epidemic, which began in China in December 2019.
She said that the 'No Mask, No Service' policy has been implemented to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the coming winter season. The 'Bangladesh Preparedness and Response Plan (BPRP)' has been prepared for the prevention and control of Covid-19 and activities are being carried out according to that plan. Six committees have been formed at the national level to coordinate the activities undertaken across the country to deal with corona.
The Prime Minister said extensive research is essential to control the ongoing Corona epidemic. To this end, new research projects are being called for, including encouraging research. International links have been established in the study. Evidence-based compilation of information is being ensured to prevent rumors and misinformation and management will be strengthened to prevent misreporting. Steps are being taken to ensure the active participation of religious and social leaders in controlling COVID-19.
