Hasina-Modi meeting on 17 December

Staff Reporter: virtual meetings will be held between the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next Thursday (December 17). The time of the meeting has been fixed through discussions between the two sides.

The Prime Ministers of the two countries are expected to meet on December 17 at 11 am. The meeting may last from one to one and a half hours.

An inter-ministerial meeting has already been held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ahead of the meeting of the two Prime Ministers. The meeting was discussed in detail there. The two sides discussed ways to keep the border between the two countries peaceful, as well as speedy implementation of projects under India's credit line. This will be the main topic of discussion for Bangladesh in the meeting of the two top leaders.

According to sources, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to Dhaka on March 26. He will come to Dhaka if the situation improves.

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen was scheduled to visit Delhi in the first week of December ahead of a meeting between the two prime ministers. However, the tour is now very uncertain as he is suffering from corona.

Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Doraiswamy said Bangladesh is celebrating Mujib Year this year. At the same time, next year will mark the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence. We hope that the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and India will meet on the 50th anniversary of independence. We are working towards this goal. Besides, a virtual meeting of the Prime Ministers of the two countries is underway on the occasion of the upcoming Victory Day of Bangladesh.
