Staff Reporter: The High Court has directed to take action against those responsible for vandalizing sculptures and insulting Bangabandhu in different parts of the country including the sculpture of the Father of the Nation. At the same time, the court directed the Imam (Khabit) to give publicity in all media about sculptures, murals, monuments and statues at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.
On Tuesday (December 8) at noon, the High Court Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md. A virtual bench comprising Khairul Alam passed the order.
Lawyer Nahid Sultana Juthi appeared for the writ petition in court on Tuesday. Accompanied by Shah Manjurul Haque. On the other hand, the Chief Legal Officer of the State, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin. He was accompanied by Deputy Attorney General Barrister ABM Abdullah Al Mahmoud Bashar.
On Sunday (December 6), a writ petition was filed in the High Court seeking directions to take necessary steps to protect all the sculptures in the country, including the sculpture of Bangabandhu. At the same time, instructions were sought from the Director General of the Islamic Foundation (IFA) and the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to take necessary steps to remove the confusion created in the minds of the people about the installation of sculptures of the Father of the Nation.
Besides, instructions were sought to take measures to prevent any kind of anarchy and deterioration of law and order centered on the installation of Bangabandhu's sculpture. Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi and ABM Shahjahan Akand Masum filed the writ petition on behalf of Supreme Court Advocate Uttam Lahiri in the concerned branch of the High Court. After the application, Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md. Khairul Alam was presented on the bench.
