Corona could not hinder our development: President

Staff Correspondent: Coronavirus could not stop the development and progress of Bangladesh and it was possible due to successful implementation of digital Bangladesh, said the President Abdul Hamid.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the seventh edition of the digital exhibition 'Digital World', the largest IT event in the country, on Wednesday (December 9th), the President inaugurated the exhibition through video message at the event organized by Bangladesh Film Archive Multi Purpose Hall.

At the time, Abdul Hamid said, "People today are reaping the benefits of the visionary commitment made by the present government in 2008 to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country and build a knowledge-based society through the implementation of Digital Bangladesh."

"Although the Corona pandemic has temporarily hampered our development and progress, it could not stopped it," he said. This is because of the successful implementation of Digital Bangladesh.

The President said that even in the midst of the epidemic, various online services including e-commerce buying and selling at home, online education activities, judicial activities through virtual courts, telemedicine services have made life much easier during these difficult times.

The President said that the e-document system introduced in the office-court has increased the dynamism in the service activities of government institutions, which has made it easier to continue government service activities and reach the services to the citizens.

Noting that risky areas have been identified through the Corona Tracer BD mobile app, the President said, "I think the campaign is being conducted after sharing the truth on the Internet before verifying falsehoods across the country, which I think is very timely in the current context."

The Ministerial Conference will be held on Thursday with the participation of Ministers of different countries in the three-day Digital World organized under the theme of Socially Distinguished, Digitally Connected. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information and Communication Technology, will present the keynote address.

Apart from this, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, digital world honors and virtual concerts are also being organized this time. In this year's exhibition, various thoughts and achievements related to e-governance, software and mobile innovation, made in Bangladesh, business process outsourcing, e-commerce, startup are gaining importance.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak presided over the inaugural function.
