Own Correspondent: A passenger train will begin its operation between Dhaka and New Jalpaiguri of India. 'Mitali Express', a new passenger train running between Dhaka and Jalpaiguri in India will be inaugurated today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to inaugurate the train at 3:30 pm on Saturday (March 27), according to sources in the Prime Minister's Office.
Earlier, railway sources said that the Dhaka-Jalpaiguri train has been renamed 'Mitali Express' by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Last Sunday (March 21), the Railways announced the proposed name of the new train.
The train will run from both the countries two days a week. The train will leave Bangladesh on Monday and Thursday. On the other hand, it has been proposed to leave India on Sunday and Wednesday. The train will not stop at any station on the way.
At present, there are two trains between the two countries, 'Maitri' on the 'Dhaka-Kolkata' route and 'Bandhan' on the 'Kolkata-Khulna' route.
