Clash in Bangabandhu Tunnel, 5 Injured

Own Correspondent: 5 people were injured in the collision of four vehicles including a private car and a microbus in the Bangabandhu Tunnel in Chittagong. Meanwhile, the decoration board of the tunnel wall and the fire fighting equipment were damaged.

On Saturday (February 10), the police and related authorities said that a collision occurred between four vehicles one by one inside the tunnel at night.

It is learned that in the evening, a microbus from Patenga of the city was going towards Anwara through the tunnel. A private car hit the microbus from behind. It collided with another microbus behind it and another private car lost control and hit the wall of the tunnel. The decoration board of the tunnel tube was broken and the fire fighting equipment was damaged.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel Authority Assistant Engineer Tanveer Rifa said, 'We seized four vehicles after the accident.'

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga police station Kabirul Islam said, 'We went to the spot after getting the news. After the accident, the tunnel security personnel and Navy personnel rescued the five injured and sent them to the hospital. The tunnel authorities themselves took custody of the accident vehicles. No written complaint has been made to us. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received.'
