4 killed as bus hits leguna

Sun News Desk : Four people have been killed and two others injured when a leguna fell into the ditch after being hit by a bus on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Manra area on Wednesday.

Of the deceased, three were identified as leguna driver Jahid Miah, 40, son of Motaleb Miah of Batbaur village, Hosne Ara, 40, wife of Abdus Salam of Bakjan village and Mohadeb Saha, 52 of Patrail village in the Sadar upazila. The injured are Mosa Miah and Nasir.

Officer-in-charge of Manikganj Police Station Abdur Rawf Sarker said the leguna was going to Manikganj with 7-8 passengers from Baniajuri bus stand in the morning. The vehicle fell into the roadside ditch after being hit by an unidentified bus, leaving four people dead on the spot and two others injured. Later, the members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the Manikganj Sadar Hospital.

Rasel, Resident Medical Officer of Manikganj Sadar Hospital, said two injured people were taken here. Of them, Musa was transferred to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Dhaka from there.
