Autorickshaw Driver Hacked to Death

District Representative: A CNG driven autorickshaw driver named Alamgir Hossain (32) was hacked to death by a motorcycle in Kanighat upazila of Sylhet district.

The incident took place at the auto-rickshaw stand at Pallividyut intersection of Gachbari Bazaar in Kanighat upazila at 8:30 pm on Wednesday (February 7).

The deceased auto driver is the son of the deceased Ali Ahmad Mistry of Tinchatti village of Jhingabari union.

According to local sources, Alamgir's CNG driven autorickshaw collided with the motorcycle of Shahab Uddin's son Shahab Uddin of Akuni village of the same union. There was an argument between them about this. The locals settled the matter. Some time after the incident, Sadiq Ahmed and another young man who was with him came to the scene again and slashed Alamgir who was sitting in the auto-rickshaw with a sharp knife. Alamgir died on the spot. Later, the motorcycle of the killers were burnt.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanaighat Police Station Jahangir Hossain Sardar said that the police visited the spot after receiving information about the murder of a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw driver. The police have started to arrest the killers. He also said that the preparation of the case is going on in this incident.
