Sun News Desk : Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan has been jailed for 10 years' rigorous jail in an arms case filed in 2015.

Dhaka Special Tribunal-14 Judge Murshid Ahmed pronounced the judgement in absence of Arav. The punishment will be effective from the day of his arrest or surrender.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, of which he will have to serve three more months in jail.

After recording testimony of 10 out of 20 witnesses in the case and arguments from both sides--the prosecution and defence--the court delivered the verdict today.
According to the case statement, Arav Khan went to the house of his father-in-law Sekendar Ali at Moghbazar in the capital on January 28, 2015 to collect money at gunpoint.

He was arrested in front of the house with a loaded revolver. Later, police filed a case against Arav under the Arms Act with Ramna Police Station.
On March 1, 2015, Detective Branch (DB) of police sub-inspector Sheikh Hasan Muhammad Mustafa Sarwar, and also the investigating officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet in the court.

On May 10, 2015, the court framed charges against Arav, but he managed to come out of jail after securing bail on March 14, 2018, in the case.
The court on October 24, 2018, issued arrest warrant against Arav as he was absconding.

He is also a fugitive accused in the murder case of a police inspector in 2018.
