80 arrested suspected or manufacturing fake vaccines in China

International Desk: The Chinese government has arrested 80 people for being involved in manufacturing fake corona vaccine. The ring, suspected of making and selling counterfeit vaccines since September, was inspired by the widespread demand for vaccines during the Corona epidemic.

According to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency, the crimering has been trading in fake vaccines since September last year.

Chinese police have recently arrested at least 80 people in Jiangsu, Beijing and Shandong, who made at least three thousand doses of the fake vaccine.

According to Xinhua, the accused had been 'making huge profits by fulfilling saline solution into injectors to process and make fake coronavirus vaccines and selling them at a higher price.'

China's Ministry of Public Safety has launched an investigation into crimes related to the production and sale of counterfeit vaccines.

Corona vaccine is currently being used in China by two companies - Sinovac and Sinofarm. Apart from China, they are also being used in a few other countries like Turkey.

Both organizations claim that their vaccines are more than 78 percent effective. However, in the last phase of the trial of Sinovac in Brazil, the effectiveness was found to be 50.36 percent.

Since then, several countries have placed the vaccine under special review, with some even suspending its use. However, Sinovac still believes that their vaccine is safe.

China's state-owned company Synopharm said its vaccine had shown a 79.34 percent efficacy in the trial.
