721 Bangladeshis return home

Sun News Desk : A total of 721 Bangladeshis have returned to home from Sudan. Besides, 160 more Bangladeshis have shown interest to return to the country. They have already completed their registration to come back to the country, saidMinistry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Seheli Sabrin at a weekly briefing on Thursday.

She said the Bangladesh government has brought 721 Bangladeshis from Sudan at its own expenses. More 160 Bangladeshis have applied to return to the country.

She also said the rest of the Bangladesh nationals in Sudan are being taken to Jeddah at the government expenses. Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah have been asked to put them on board the Bangladesh flights immediately after they reach Jeddah. "We believe that we will be able to bring all the stranded Bangladesh nationals back to the country safely," she said.

On May 8 last, 136 Bangladesh nationals returned to the country from Sudan via Jeddah of Saudi Arabia under the first phase. A total of 721 Bangladeshis have returned home from Sudan under several phases.

It may be mentioned that there were some 1,500 Bangladesh nationals in Sudan. Of them, 721 have returned to the country.
