Elephant died by train in Uttara

Sun News Desk : An elephant was killed after a train hit it in Uttara area on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 1:45pm at Court Bari area when two elephants were walking along the rail tracks, said Sub-inspector Akbar Ali, in-charge of Airport Railway Police Outpost.

He said the Chattogram-bound Chattala Express Train hit one of the elephants, leaving the animal dead on the spot.

The mahouts fled away immediately with the other elephant, he added.

The SI also said they informed the incident to the officials of forest department.

Imran Ahmed, Conservator (wildlife and nature conservation) of Forest Department said they could not identify the owner of the elephant.
