3 killed in sand pile collaps 

Sun News Desk: Three people were killed when sand pile collapsed on them at Chandani of Rajbari on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim Sheikh, 55, Maruf Sheikh, 20 and Imran, a truck driver a resident of Mahishkhala village in Kushtia district.

Locals said that businessman Hannan has a large sand pit in Joukura Ghat area. Sand is regularly sold from Chatal. A big truck was lifting sand with a wheelbarrow at around 10:30 pm.

At that time, when the wheels of the truck got stuck in the sand, the driver and others were removing the sand from under the wheels of the truck. The pile of sand broke and fell on them. Three people died on the spot.

Mohammad Salahuddin, Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police, said that the police will investigate whether there is any negligence on the part of the Chatal owner in this accident.

He also said that we will look into the condition of how high the sand bed should be.
