Sun News Desk : Three people have been killed and five others injured in a collision between a pickup van and a battery-run van in Jhenaidah on Thursday.

The deceased were- Rafan Islam, 41-day-old son of Robiul Islam, his niece Khuku Moni, 5 and the battery-run van driver Soleman Hossain.
Rafan’s mother Rabia Khatun and grand-mother Sheuli Begum are among the injured. They were taken to Jashore Hospital.

Anjali Khatun, relative of the deceased, said Rafan’s mother and grand-mother were going to Kotchandpur for a doctor’s appointment for him by the battery-run van. When the van reached at Kashipur College intersection, the pickup collided head-on with it, leaving three dead on the spot.
Md Moyeen Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Kotchandpur Police Station, said two children and the van driver were killed in the road accident. The pickup van was seized but its driver managed to flee away. No complaint was filed over the matter.
