Sun News Desk : A Dhaka court sentenced BNP leaders Habibur Rahman Habib, former lawmaker of Noakhali-4 constituency Md Shahjahan and 13 others to four years in jail in a sabotage case.

Meanwhile, four other accused were acquitted as their case charges were not proved.

The other convicts are- former lawmaker of Kushtia-2 constituency Mohammad Ahsan Habib Linkon, Village Government Affiars Assistant Secretary Mohammad Belal Ahmed, Assistant Publicity Secretary Mohammad Shamimur Rahman Shamim, Touhidul Islam Tuhin, Monirul Haque Monir, Mohammad Didarul Islam, Masud Rana, Abdur Razzak, Ziaul Islam Jewel, Md Arif, Mohammad Nishan Miah, Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan Sumon and Mozammel Haque.
The court also acquitted four people in the case. They are Mohammad Kafil Uddin, Deen Islam, Mohammad Mamun and Aminul Islam.

According to the statement, 30-40 BNP men set fire on a bus obstructing public movement at Pragati Sarani area opposite to Jamuna Future Park in the capital during the indefinite strike of BNP-led 20-party alliance on January 4 in 2015. They also obstructed the duty of police.
Later, Nazrul Islam, Sub Inspector of Bhatara Police Station filed a case over the incident.

On May 12, 2015, a charge sheet was submitted against 19 people to the court by Sub Inspector Md Saju Miah.
