Two pilgrims die in Ijtema

District representative: Two people who came to participate in Bishwa Ijtema died at the Turag shore of Tongi.

They died on Wednesday (January 31) evening and night. Ghiyas Uddin, the engineer in charge of the bodies of the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema, confirmed the matter.

The name of a deceased worshiper is Zaman (40), who is the son of Saiful Islam of Chauharditola village of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.

His fellow worshiper Jony said, Zaman was working as a servant (cook) after Maghrib prayer. After some time, seeing him lying unconscious, the accompanying devotees immediately informed the hospital. Later he was rescued and taken to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Farhana Tasnim, a doctor in the hospital's emergency department, said that the worshiper was brought to the hospital in a dead state.

Meanwhile, a worshiper named Younuch Mia (60) died on his way from Brahmanbaria to participate in the World Ijtema of Tongir in Gazipur. He was taken to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Tongir at 2.30 am on Wednesday (January 31) and the doctor declared him dead.
