Finally, the state-flagged Biman Bangladesh Airlines was allowed to land in Saudi Arabia to operate flights. Biman will be able to operate flights to Saudi Arabia from October 1.
The Saudi government allowed Biman to operate flights from October 1, but did not give landing permission. Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) also sent a letter to Saudi Civil Aviation regarding such a decision.
A source in Biman Bangladesh Airlines confirmed the landing permission.
According to aviation sources, Biman has been allowed to operate eight flights a week to three Saudi cities since October 1. The three cities are Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh. The flight schedule from October 1 to October 24 will be announced on Biman's website in a day or two.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam confirmed the matter in a status on his own verified Facebook page on Wednesday (September 23rd).
