The sacked doctor of the National Heart Institute in the case of the Election Commission (EC) accused of concealing the information of the second National Identity Card (NID). The court denied Sabrina bail.
On Tuesday (September 22) in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari. Lawyer Saifuzzaman (Tuhin) applied for bail on behalf of Sabrina.
Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Majharul Islam opposed the bail in the CMM court on behalf of the state. After the hearing, the court rejected the bail application.
On September 1, the court granted Sabrina a two-day remand in the case. However, as the case was transferred to DB, the interrogation was postponed. After questioning, on September 14, Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas ordered Sabrina to be sent to jail.
Earlier, on August 31, Dr. Gulshan Police Station Election Officer Mohammad Momin Mia filed the case against Sabrina at Badda Police Station.
According to the lawsuit, Sabrina became a double voter with false information and committed multiple national identity cards. He has been asked to take legal action against the defendant, citing information from his two NIDs.
The case has been filed under sections 14 and 15 of the 2010 National Identity Card Registration Act. Section 14 provides for a maximum imprisonment of one year and a fine of Tk 20,000 if the allegation of giving false information is proved. And if the allegation of taking more than one National Identity Card (NID) is proved under Section 15, the same punishment can be given.
