Kushtia Bangabandhu's sculpture case: 4 arrested

Staff Reporter: Four people have been arrested for vandalizing the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under construction at five road junctions in Kushtia city. They are known to be primarily involved with breaking or insulting sculptures.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told reporters at the home ministry on Sunday (December 6th) at noon.

The home minister said CCTV footage of the incident was collected. After that, the 4 suspects have been arrested after checking and sorting. The four arrested are Abu Bakr, Nahid, Alamin and Yusuf. They are all students of Ibn Madrasa. They were detained in a raid on a madrassa in Kushtia city.

The Home Minister said those who will create chaos with the sculpture of Bangabandhu will be severely suppressed. A number of government agencies including RAB and police have started work. Those who are doing such things or provoking them will be identified and brought under the law.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station Abul Kalam said details of the incident would be revealed at a press conference on Sunday (December 6).

It is mentioned that on Friday (December 4) at around 2 am, miscreants vandalized the sculpture of Bangabandhu.
