Sports Desk: Sri Lanka will visit Bangladesh in May to play a three-match ODI series. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan told reporters on Wednesday. He also informed that Bangladesh’s postponed Test tour of Sri Lanka will take place later and the date is yet to to be fixed.
Bangladesh will tour New Zealand at the end of the ongoing series against West Indies. Sri Lanka has no schedule in May. That is why BCB wants to organize an ODI series at home at that time.
The cricket boards of the two countries are also planning to host the postponed Test series to be played on Sri Lankan soil in July last year. Although it is not certain when the series will take place, Akram said it will be played before or after the ODI series. The BCB official said the two tours have been confirmed by the cricket boards of the two countries.
In this context, Akram said, 'Sri Lanka team will come to Bangladesh in May. We're not going there. But we can go there before and after. But both tours are final.
Bangladesh is scheduled to travel to Zimbabwe to play two Tests, three ODIs and a three-match T20 series. Commenting on the series against the Rhodesians, Akram said, "Zimbabwe are not sure yet, maybe we will finalize in a few days..
He added, ‘We are concern about rest for our cricketers as well because it is pretty tough for them to play continuously while staying in bio-bubbles. It is a big pressure on them and we have to keep that in mind. So we are planing the tour taking everything into consideration."
