Sun News Desk: At least 3 people were killed and five others injured in a collision among four vehicles on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Shahpur on Saturday.

The deceased are- Sadir Ali, 25, a microbus driver of Komolatila village at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar, Atiqur Rahman Sihab, 15, son of late Nurul Haque, of Madanagar village of the same upazila, Abdus Salam, 32, son of late Abdul Hannan of Berachara village in Kamolganj upazila of the same district.

However, identities of the injured could not be known immediately. They were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Mohammad Abdur Razzak, Officer-in-charge of Madhabpur Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

The OC said, the accident took place due to dense fog in the area. Being informed, the dead bodies were recovered from the spot.

Shaistaganj Highway Police Station (OC) Md Mainul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.

He said that a microbus was going to Moulvibazar with passengers returning from abroad in the early morning. And microbus collided with a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction in Shahpur area. At the same time, a speeding pickup van rammed behind the microbus. Three people were killed on the spot and five others were injured.

Shaistaganj Highway police station rescued the injured and sent them to Sylhet's Osmani Medical College Hospital. Two others died after being taken there.
