Students are Still on the Road Today

Staff Correspondent: Students of different schools and colleges are carrying out a blockade program on Rampura Bridge in Dhaka. They took position on Wednesday (December 1) at around 11 pm. At that time, the bus was stopped and the passengers were seen getting off.

Students say they have joined the movement with 9 demands, But all 8 were not accepted. So they are still on the road.

Various placards were seen in the hands of the protesting students. They are chanting slogans like 'We want justice', 'We want safe roads', 'Direct action', 'Students die in the dark of night, administration falls asleep'.

The agitating students have demanded to ensure half fare for the bus including trial in the case of Mainuddin's death.

The protesters were seen checking and sorting the licenses of vehicles plying in the Rampur Bridge area. They are arranging for the vehicles of the patients and the examinees to move in separate lanes. Due to their position on the eastern side of the road, there has been severe traffic jam from Badda to Rampura. On the west side of the road, some emergency vehicles were seen leaving.

It is learned that the students of Notre Dame College have also joined the agitation program with the students residing in Rampura. Rampura police chief said. Rafiqul Islam said I have heard that students have taken to the streets even today. They had already announced that they would take to the streets today. Police are on the scene to avoid any untoward situation.
