Sun News Desk : Prothom Alo journalist Shamsuzzaman Shams has been granted bail by a Dhaka court in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor granted him the bail upon Tk 20,000 bond with two guarantors, Chaitanya Chandra Halder, a lawyer for Shams.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain sent Shamsuzzaman, Savar Correspondent of the Daily Prothom Alo, to jail on March 30 rejecting his bail plea.

Lawyer Abdul Malek (Mashiur Malek) lodged the case early hours of March 30 with Ramna Police Station accusing the newspaper's editor Matiur Rahman, reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams, an unnamed 'assistant cameraman', and unnamed others of "using print, online, and electronic media to tarnish the image and reputation of the state".
The High Court on Sunday (April 2) granted six weeks' anticipatory bail to Prothom Alo editor and publisher Matiur Rahman in the case.
