Staff Reporter: Newly appointed State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haq has said that sculptures and statues are not same. There is a misunderstanding about this.
He made the remarks during a courtesy call on leaders of the Religious Reporters Forum (RRF), an organization of journalists, at the Secretariat on Tuesday (December 1st). The leaders of the organization led by RRF President Fayez Ullah Bhuiyan and General Secretary Ubaidullah Badal greeted and congratulated the state minister.
At the time, the state minister further said, everyone should be more restrained about provocative speech statements. At the same time, he urged the media personnel not to bring up the issue of sculptures and statues.
Noting that regular communication and dialogue with religious leaders will be maintained to maintain communal harmony, the state minister said, "Whatever we do, we have to give him a chance to practice his religion." Every religion says to be a good person, not to do evil and wrong, not to do any harm to others. If you forget the religious differences and try to be a good person, you will get good results.
Addressing the RRF leaders, he said, "The constructive advice of the media personnel will help the people to serve and fulfill their responsibilities."
RRF leaders include Vice President Moniruzzaman Ujjwal, Joint Secretary Muhammad Naimuddin, Finance Secretary Rakibul Haque, Organizing Secretary Kamruzzaman Bablu, Publicity and Publication Secretary Bahram Khan, Executive Member Shamsul Islam, Mohsinul Karim Lebu, Member Masud Rana were present in the meeting.
