Livestock Sector employment soon : S M Rezaul Karim

Staff Reporter, Khulna: Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim has promised to create employment opportunities in the livestock sector for those who have returned from abroad or lost their jobs in the country because of Covid-19.

He made the pledge in his keynote address at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Divisional Livestock Building at Nurnagar in Khulna on Friday (November 27) morning.

The minister said Bangabandhu dreamed of freeing the country from hunger and poverty. His dream is being realized by his worthy successor Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh has become a role model of economic development in the world. But many have lost their jobs as a result of the global Corona pandemic. Self-employment in the livestock sector will be created for them through various incentive packages. At the initial stage, nine hundred crore rupees will be distributed among six lakh 96 thousand farmers and entrepreneurs. Later, another Tk 4,000 crore will be given as incentive.

The Minister further said that Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in meat and egg production. The day is not far away when we will export animal feed abroad.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Raunak Mahmud, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, spoke as a special guest in the presidency. Md.
