Instructions for age exemption in government service

The government has directed the ministries, departments, directorates, directorates and agencies which could not publish the notification due to coronavirus to give age exemption in government service.

However, it has been informed that it will not be applicable in case of BCS examination.

On Thursday (September 18), the Ministry of Public Administration sent a letter to every secretary and senior secretary and the head of the concerned institution with this instruction.

The letter said that the Ministries or Departments and their subordinate bodies and Autonomous / Nationalized Institutions had made all preparations for direct recruitment in various categories of government jobs (excluding BCS) including obtaining clearance from the appropriate authorities before March 25. All the concerned Ministries / Departments have been requested to take necessary steps to publish the recruitment notification by fixing the maximum age limit of the candidates till March 25 in those departments.

The order was issued under the signature of Dipankar Biswas, Deputy Secretary, Rules Division, Ministry of Public Administration. He said that only those government institutions which had taken clearance in the recruitment notification before March 25 will get age exemption.

With an example, he said, this rule will be applicable even if the notice of clearance is issued in this case in December. However, it will not be applicable to those institutions which are now taking new clearance for recruitment notification.

For those who will apply in the mentioned conditional recruitment notice, March 25, 2020 will be calculated for 30 years. The Ministry of Public Administration has asked the ministries, departments and agencies to publish notifications for those eligible to apply.

At present, the age limit for entry into government service is 30 years and for children of freedom fighters it is 32 years. First and second class jobs are recruited through the Public Service Commission (PSC). The responsibility of appointment in the posts of third and fourth class lies with the concerned government department.
