She said this while inaugurating Amar Ekushey Boi Mela at Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises on Thursday (February 1).
She has stated that everyone should have the habit of reading books. It is better if parents teach from childhood. Many people take medicine for sleep, there is no need. Reading a book is enough to fall asleep. The interesting thing is that reading a book will not make you sleepy. For this book must be selected.
The Prime Minister also said that publishers should not only be paper based publishers, but also digital publishers. Only then we can reach more people. I can go abroad. There will be audio as well as writing, as it should be. You have to keep up with the times. There is a need of translations. There are many languages and literature in the world, how can we know if we don't translate? So we have to translate our books from Bengali to different languages.

Highlighting the memory of getting back to life at the book fair, Sheikh Hasina said, it feels good to come here. But coming as the Prime Minister is not fun. Turn right for safety, turn left for safety. Freedom is lost in this safety net. I used to come here since my school days. Now I don't get that fun because of security.
Bangla Academy Literary Award-2023 has been given in 11 categories this year.
The awardees are Shamim Azad (poetry), novelists Nooruddin Jahangir and Salma Bani (jointly in fiction), Zulfikar Matin (essay/research), Saleha Chowdhury (translation), playwrights Mrittika Chakma and Masud Pathik (jointly in drama), Tapankar Chakraborty (children's literature). ), Afroza Parveen and Asaduzzaman Asad (Research on Liberation War), Saifullah Mahmud Dulal and Md. Mujibur Rahman (research on Bangabandhu), ornithologist Inam Al Haque (environment/science field), Ishaq Khan (biography) and Tapan Bagchi and Suman Kumar Das (jointly folktales).
The Prime Minister handed over the award to them before the speech. After the speech, she visited various stalls in the fair.
