President's Call to Saudi

Own Correspondent: President Md. Sahabuddin urged Saudi Arabian investors to increase investment in various sectors of Bangladesh.

A delegation led by the Speaker of Saudi Arabia's Shura Council, Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Ibrahim Al Sheikh, made this call during a meeting with the President at Bangabhaban on Thursday (February 1).

President Md. Sahabuddin said that bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia are excellent. Religious, cultural and economic ties are also strong between the two countries. Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia are very holy places for Muslims in Bangladesh.

The President said that Saudi Arabia is the biggest labor market of Bangladesh. Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Saudi Arabia are contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of both countries.

Referring to Saudi Arabia as a major partner in the development of Bangladesh, he said that Saudi investment and bilateral trade in Bangladesh is gradually increasing. He thinks that the amount will increase in the future. At this time, the President also praised the leadership of Saudi Arabia in establishing peace and unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The speaker of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia said that the Saudi government and people attach great importance to the development of relations with the country. Appreciating the socio-economic development of Bangladesh, the members of the delegation said that their cooperation will continue for the development of Bangladesh.
