International Desk: Greece and Austria has offered other EU countries to introduced 'vaccine passport' to restart the ailing air travel sector.
The two countries made the proposal during a virtual meeting of EU leaders on Thursday (February 25th) to revive Europe's dying travel industry due to the corona virus epidemic.
Although there is a demand for a new concept called Vaccine Passport to be introduced in the EU, it is not really a passport. It will probably be a document similar to a certificate, and those who have this document of corona vaccine will have the opportunity to travel freely in all European countries.
Although Greece and Austria offered to introduce vaccine passports in virtual talks on Thursday, several countries in the 27-member body have again opposed the proposal. France and Germany say such documents would be a premature decision to allow for free movement.
The reason given by the two countries is that the results so far are incomplete with regard to the effectiveness of the corona vaccine in carrying and transmitting the virus from one person to another. And so such a decision should not be taken now.
In addition, those who will be vaccinated will only travel, and others, including young people who are not on the priority list for vaccination, will stay at home; The two countries have mentioned that such idea is discriminatory.
Greece and Israel have already started issuing digital immunization certificates within their respective countries. Denmark and Sweden, on the other hand, have discussed introducing such passports. Source: BBC.
