Staff Reporter: Bangladesh became one of the three large remittance-recipient countries in Asia according to a report of Economist Intelligence Unit. Last year Bangladesh registered a rise in inward remittance worth $19.8 billion compared to $18.4 billion it received the year before, according to the report.
Mexico and Pakistan are other two countries that have rise in inward remittance.
EIU recently purchased a report with a list of 10 largest remittance recipients. With the figure of $19.8 billion, Bangladesh is the eighth highest recipient saw a rise in inward remittance. While, other large remittance recipients in the list like India, China, the Philippines, Egypt, Nigeria, Vietnam, and Ukraine saw decline last year.
