Prime Minister rejects proposal of naming Padma Bridge after her

Staff- Reporter: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not want to name the Padma Bridge after herself. When the ruling party MP from Gazipur-3 constituency Muhammad Iqbal Hossain Sabuj proposed this in the parliament, the Prime Minister first shook her hand and then shooking head said 'no'.

He made the proposal while participating in the discussion of the motion of thanks on the President's speech in the Parliament on Thursday (January 21). Later, another Awami League MP Pankaj Dev Nath also proposed naming the Padma Bridge after the Prime Minister.

Addressing the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Muhammad Iqbal Hossain said, "I want to make a proposal to Sheikh Hasina. On behalf of the 350 members of this National Parliament who are representing the 160 million people of Bangladesh, I would like to say that the name of this bridge should be Sheikh Hasina Bridge. Besides, it has no better option."

Even then, the Prime Minister repeatedly shook hands and disagreed. At one stage, the Prime Minister looked vexed and shook hiead repeatedly.
