Peaceful Solution To The Strike On Sunday

Staff Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal MP said a peaceful solution to the transport strike could come from a meeting of the BRTA's fare rescheduling committee on Sunday (October 7th). He was speaking at a function organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League on Friday (November 5) evening at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

The government has increased the price of diesel and kerosene to keep pace with the world market. Therefore, bus and truck owners and workers announced the closure of public transport and freight vehicles. For this reason, I hope that a meeting of the BRTA rent re-determination committee will be held. This will lead to a peaceful solution to the transport strike.

Meanwhile, the price of diesel in the country is lower than in India, said the Minister of Information and Broadcasting and the Joint General Secretary of the Awami League D. Hasan Mahmud.

He said BPC had been subsidizing diesel at Tk 2.97 per liter in June this year, Tk 3.70 per liter in July, Tk 1.58 per liter in August, Tk 5.62 per liter in September and Tk 13.01 per liter in October. The loss was about 1147.60 crore. At the same time, the value of 1 dollar has risen from Tk 79 in 2016 to Tk 85.75 this month, so you have to pay extra in dollars. Despite the reduction in the price of fuel oil in India, the price of diesel in West Bengal is Tk 104 per liter in Bangladesh and Tk 114 in Delhi. 81 in Nepal. We are worth less than these neighboring countries. That is why smugglers are smuggling diesel from here to neighboring countries.

Earlier, the Indian government reduced petrol and diesel prices. The country has reduced the price of petrol by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 10. Diesel and petrol started selling at new prices across India from dawn on Thursday (November 4). However, the price of diesel and petrol varies from state to state.

  • In Delhi, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 6.07 per liter to Rs 103.97. The price of diesel has been reduced by 11.75 rupees and the current price is 98.42 rupees.
  • In Mumbai, the petrol price has been reduced by Rs 5.87 per liter to Rs 109.98. The price of diesel has been reduced by Rs 12.48 and the current price is Rs 94.14.
  • In Chennai, the current price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 5.26 per liter to Rs 101.40. The price of diesel has been reduced by 11.16 rupees and the current price is 91.43 rupees.
  • In Kolkata, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 5.82 per liter to Rs 104.67. The price of diesel has been reduced by Rs 11.77 to Rs 101.57.
