Main Accused of Comilla Murder Killed in 'Gunfight'

Staff Correspondent: Comilla City Corporation (CUSIC) Ward Councilor No. 17 and Awami League leader Syed Mohammad. Shah Alam, the main accused in the murder case of Sohail and his accomplice Haripada Saha, was shot dead in a 'gunfight' with police.

According to the police, a team of Comilla district police and DB police conducted the operation on the basis of secret information that some armed men were staying at the Gumti embankment.

At that time, sensing the presence of the police, the terrorists fired at the police. Police also fired back in self-defense. At that moment, a terrorist was shot at by the two sides. The locals identified him as Shah Alam.

Shah Alam, who was shot, was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Shah Alam is the main accused in the double murder case including Councilor Sohail. He is the son of the late Janu Miah of the Sujanagar Bou Bazar area.

Earlier, Sabbir and Sajan, the accused in the case, were killed in a shootout with the police.

It is to be mentioned that on November 22, masked miscreants entered the private office of Kusik Councilor Sohail and were shot at random. Councilor Sohail and his associate Haripada Saha were shot dead in the incident. Later, the brother of the killed councilor Syed Mohammad. Ruman named 11 people as plaintiffs and filed cases against 8/10 people as anonymous accused.

Six people have been arrested so far in the case. They are Sumon, Masum, Ashikur Rahman Rocky, Alam Mia, Jisan and Antu. All of them except Antu are accused in the case.
