International Desk: The court in West bengal has issued summons to Home Minister Amit Shah to appear in court in person or by lawyer in defamation case filed byTrinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee.
The Bidhannagar court has directed Amit Shah to appear in court on February 22.
Bagish Jha, a member of the BJP's legal cell, acknowledged the summons and said the legal details were being looked into. BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said the Trinamool had become so helpless and intolerant that they were suing all BJP leaders. They did not even exclude the Home Minister of the country.
The case was filed with the Bidhanagar police station after BJP President Amit Shah had made slanderous statements against Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee at a public rally on August 11, 2018 in Kolkata.
Trinamool Youth Congress chief Abhishek is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
