Human Chain to Demand The Release of Journalist Rana

Thakurgaon Correspondent: A human chain and protest program was held in Baliadangi of Thakurgaon to protest the imprisonment of Shafiuzzaman Rana, a fake upazila correspondent of Sherpur newspaper, Daily Desh Panwar, in a mobile court, demanding his release and punishment against the officials who abused the law.

An hour-long human chain and protest meeting was held at Baliadangi intersection on Tuesday (March 12) at 11 am.

Baliadangi Press Club President NM Nurul Islam, General Secretary Al Mamun Jiban, Journalist Firoz Amin Sarkar Russell, Tanveer Hasan Tanu, Moinuddin Talukder Himel, Sohail Rana, Haroon Or Rashid, General Secretary of Ranishankail Press Club Anwar Hossain Akash spoke in the program organized by Baliadangi Press Club. Baliadangi Press Club Vice President Rashidul Islam, Joint General Secretary Abdul Momin, Organizing Secretary Ilyas Ali, Joint Organizing Secretary Nur Alam Saddam, Treasurer Majedul Islam Hridoy, Office Secretary Hasan Ali, Sports Secretary Milan Akhtar, Publicity Secretary Motalib Samrat, Executive Member Zulfikar Ali Shah and journalist Muniruzzaman Anik and others.

At that time, other members of Baliadangi Press Club along with teachers, cultural and civil society dignitaries were present.

The speakers said that the pen of journalists cannot be stopped by intimidation. Journalists have been harassed by the Digital Security Act in the past. Mobile courts are being set up now. Journalists are not afraid of anything.

At that time, they demanded the release of the journalist Rana and the removal of the mobile court judge UNO and OC.
