'Govt. wants good relations with media'

DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister said, the government wants good relations with the media. I don't want it to be hostile. I don't want any conflict, let's have a good relationship. It's good for the government, it's good for the media.

He made the remarks in response to a question after a meeting with journalist leaders at the secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Asked about the issues to be discussed in the meeting with the journalist leaders, Quader said, "Journalist Rozina Islam and the newspaper industry, some issues, rights, demands have some issues with the government." They informed me of this as the General Secretary of the ruling party.

At that time, he assured to discuss with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on various issues including withdrawal of the case of senior reporter of Prothom Alo Rozina Islam.

The bridge minister said, there is a concerned ministry here. There is the Ministry of Information, there is the Ministry of Law, there is the Ministry of Home Affairs. In particular, there are some issues to be informed to the Hon'ble Prime Minister. 'The problems they have said. I will talk to the Hon'ble Prime Minister about the solution. I will inform the leader about the demands.

Asked whether the case would be withdrawn, he said, "They have said these things." Need to talk.

The top leader of the ruling Awami League was asked whether he felt that the demands of the journalist leaders were solvable.
