Govt cuts launch fares

Sun News Desk: The government has reduced the launch fares by 15 paisa per kilometer due to lower fuel prices. The new decision will be effective from 12 pm.

The Ministry of Shipping issued a notification in this regard On Thursday.

According to the notification, the fare of passenger vessels was decreased to Tk 2.85 from Tk 3.00 a kilometre for the first 100 kilometres and to Tk 2.45 a kilometre from Tk 2.60 for over 100 kilometres.

Besides, The minimum launch fare has been reduced to Tk 30 from Tk 33.

On August 5, the government increased the prices of petrol, diesel, octane and kerosene at the consumer level by up to 51 per cent.

The authorities increased the fares of diesel-powered buses and minibuses by up to 22 per cent on different services next day.

Earlier On August 16, the government increased the fares of diesel-run passenger vessels by 30 per cent with immediate effect.
