Gang rape in dormitory: Uttal MC College

The Murari Chand College (MC College) campus in Sylhet has become abuzz with the incident of gang-raping a young woman in a dormitory while her husband was tied up.

Ordinary students are protesting against the incident and demanding justice for the accused BCL leaders and activists.

They started the protest by setting fire to a tire on the Sylhet-Tamabil road adjacent to the campus at noon on Saturday (September 26). At that time, ordinary students chanted slogans demanding justice for the rapists. The students called on the college administration to arrest the culprits immediately.

The girl was raped on Friday (September 25) afternoon while visiting her husband at MC College. The incident took place at the college dormitory in Tilagarh area around 9:30 pm. The girl was picked up from the campus and taken to a dormitory and raped, police said.

The victim's husband has filed a case with Shah Paran Police Station.

7 BCL leaders and activists and 3 others have been accused in the case.

The accused in the case are- MC College BCL leader and English department master's student Shah Mohammad. Mahbubur Rahman Rony (25), Mahfuzur Rahman Masum (25), Saifur Rahman (26), Rabiul Islam (25), Arjun Laskar (25) and Tarekul Islam Tarek (26).

Among them, Arjun and Tareq (26) are known to be foreign BCL activists.

Among the accused, Saifur's house is in Balaganj, Rabiul's house is in Dirai, Mashum's house is in Kanaighat, Arjun's house is in Zakiganj, Rony's house is in Habiganj and Tareq's house is in Sunamganj.
