Benapole (Jessore): Rafiqul Islam (28) of Sharsha Navaran Kazirber village of Jessore has committed suicide by announcing on Facebook Live that he was arrogant towards his wife.

The young man, who died on Thursday (September 18) after being poisoned on Wednesday (September 18) evening, is the son of Didar Hossain of the village.

Sharsha Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badrul Alam Khan said Rafiqul's relatives admitted him to Jessore Medical College Hospital after he was poisoned. He died on Thursday while undergoing treatment there.

Jessore Navaran Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Jewel Imran said Rafiqul Islam had been in Malaysia for a long time. He returned to the country 13 days ago. He used to send all the money he earned while in Malaysia to his wife Monira Khatun. After returning to the country, Monira embezzled the money and stopped communicating with Rafiqul. It is thought he committed suicide because of this.

Rafiqul's wife Monira Khatun has been taken into police custody for questioning.
