The trade fair is not starting on March 16

Own Correspondent: The 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair will not start on March 16. The Prime Minister did not give approveal to this end.

This time it is more likely not to be held this year.

Multiple responsible sources confirmed this on Tuesday (January 19th).

Commerce Secretary Dr Md Zafar Uddin today said, due to Corona pandemic, the authorities took preparation for the inauguration of the International Trade Fair on March 17 instead of the beginning of the year.

The Secretary said, "It is more likely that it is not happening now.That much can be said at this moment. Tomorrow (January 20) everything will be clear."

However, the issue was discussed with several officials of the Export Promotion Bureau on Tuesday. They said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not approve the fair. So the fair is not happening.. '

It may be mentioned that the Dhaka International Trade Fair has been held at Agargaon of the capital for 25 years. The Prime Minister inaugurates the fair on January 1 every year. This time it was postponed due to Corona. Preparations were made to organize a month-long fair.

The fair was expected to be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal on the instructions of the Prime Minister. China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), a Chinese state-owned enterprise, has set up the exhibition centre on 20 acres (6.1 hectares) of land. This is a joint project of Bangladesh and China. Out of 796 crore budget China Aid has sanctioned a grant of Tk 625 for the project.
