Communal Conflict is Not Diminishing in Tripura

International Desk: There have been attacks on Muslim homes and mosques in Tripura. However, even though the situation is normal, the tension has not abated. Human rights groups say clashes between the two communities are raging. The government has tightened security across the state of Tripura.

Nurul Islam Barabhuiyan, a member of the Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), said that human rights organizations were trying to find out the details of the damage by visiting different areas.

Nurul Islam said, after collecting all the information, we will be able to publish the report. However, I can say that 3 mosques have been set on fire and 10 mosques have been attacked.

Meanwhile, Tripura Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Sourav Trivedi said the news of the arson attack on a mosque in Panisagar town was a rumor. Some miscreants are publishing fake information on social media. Panisagar has nothing in common with the videos and pictures that have been released at this time. So it can be said that the mosque was not set on fire.

Commenting that the Panisagar incident was a rumor, a school teacher said that wrong information was being spread about the Panisagar incident. Just as it is true, it is also true that several mosques have been damaged. But no news is being published about it.

A professor at Tripura University said all parties were afraid to take to the streets to protest as there are less than ten percent of the Muslim population or votes in Tripura. More than 90 percent of the votes will go against the Hindus. So they are silent without protesting.

Badruzzaman, president of the Tripura Congress, thinks it is part of the process of Hindu-Muslim polarization. He said about 300 people had lost their homes and taken refuge in the northern part of Kailashahar.
