Case against local politician

Staff Reporter: A case against Ward 5 Councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation Chitta Ranjan Das has been filed by a victim of a viral video on Facebook in Sabuzbagh police station of the Capital on Saturday (September 11) evening, the officer-in-charge of Sabujbagh police station (OC) P. Muradul Islam has confirmed the matter of the case.

He said that after an offensive video of a woman went viral, the victim came to the police station and filed a case against Chitta Ranjan Das, councilor of ward 5 of Dhaka South City Corporation under the Women and Child Abuse Act. The OC also said that further legal action is being taken in this regard.

Earlier, in the video, Chitta Ranjan Das was seen calling a young woman to himself. He pulled the girl close and hugged her repeatedly. In the meantime, various interesting discussions have been made on social media about the short video.
