Special Report: The influential circles of elite areas including Gulshan-Banani have been using a class of actress-models like Parimani and Piyasa as a stepping stone. The gang has been using those model-actresses for a long time to save its own interests. The influential circle is surrounded by people of that profession. These are industrialists, businessmen, policy makers, bankers, politicians, doctors, insurance co-owners, owners of multinational companies and journalists.
According to the sources, the interrogation of the heroine-models in remand and the investigation officials got this information. Investigations have begun into the influential clique and the people involved in that profession.
So far 15 cases have been filed in connection with the arrest of model-actresses. CID is investigating 14 cases. The central bank has summoned the bank accounts of 6 people arrested including their girlfriends. An investigation is also underway into six expensive cars seized from the custody of model-actresses.
On August 4, RAB raided Parimani's Banani house and arrested her and her uncle Dipu. RAB filed a case against them at Banani police station.
Meanwhile, five people, including Parimani and her alleged uncle Ashraful Islam Dipu, will be taken to court on Friday after remand in a drug case. The other three are producer Nazrul Islam Raj, Maryam Akhter Mau and Sabuj Ali. In the drug case, they were remanded for two days in the second phase to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
Police produced Parimani in court on Friday (August 13th) after she was remanded in custody for a second time. No new remand application was made on this day. The investigating officer of the case, Golam Mostafa, an inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police, has applied to keep the girlfriend in jail.
The investigating officer mentioned in the application that it is necessary to keep the accused Shamsunnahar Smriti alias Smriti Moni alias Parimani in jail till the investigation of the case is completed. If the accused is released on bail, the investigation of the case may be hampered. There is even a risk of fleeing.
Investigating officer Golam Mostafa further mentioned that Parimani had given some important information in remand. It is being checked and selected in the interest of investigating the case.
Golam Mostafa said that there was enough evidence to prove that he (Parimani) was involved in the case. The investigation is ongoing. It is imperative that he be kept in jail till the investigation of the case is completed.
Meanwhile, Parimani's lawyer Mojibur Rahman has applied for bail. A hearing will be held in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal around 2.30 pm today, he said.
