Staff reporter : The battery-run autorickshaws and easy bikes will ply in Dhaka city streets as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, but the rickshaws will not be allowed to run on the 22 highways, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

He said these while speaking at a program at Bangabandhu Avenue on Monday.

Obaidul Quader said "Considering the global crisis and sufferings of the low-income people, the Prime Minister has allowed to run battery-run rickshaws on the Dhaka city streets. But the decision of ban of rickshaws plying on the 22 highways will remain in force.
