Second dose of the vaccine 8 weeks later

Own Correspondent: The Department of Health has changed the timing of the second dose of Corona on the advice of the National Advisory Committee. The time difference between the first and second doses will be eight weeks.

The Director General of the Department of Health. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam told the media onMonday (February 15) in the afternoon. According to the director general, 'the second dose of the vaccine was decided to be given four weeks after the first dose. However, they will be given a second dose after eight weeks, not four weeks.'

So far, those who have taken the first dose of the vaccine have been given a four-week interval for the second dose. In this regard, he said, those who have been given a date four weeks later, will be informed of the new date via SMS.

The Department of Health first said when finalizing the Covid-19 vaccination plan, the time difference was set four weeks. This was criticized by some public health experts. Then the time was changed to eight weeks. But before the mass immunization program began, it was said at a press conference on February 6 that the time difference between the two doses would be four weeks.

In this regard Professor Alam said, "We have found good response to get vaccinated and it is gaining momentum. Considering this, the National Immunization Committee on Vaccine has made the decision."
