Bangladesh Ranks 152nd In Women's Security

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh ranks 152nd out of 170 countries in the world in terms of women's security. This information has been given in a report published in 'Women, Peace and Security Index-2021'. The report was published by Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS).

Pakistan and Afghanistan lag behind South Asian countries in women's security, the report said. On the other hand, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan are ahead of Bangladesh.

According to the index,

  • In terms of women's employment, Bangladesh's score is 35.2 percent.
  • In terms of schooling, Bangladesh's score is 6 out of 15.
  • 35.8 percent of the financial inclusion of women.

The top five countries in the index are-

  • 1st Norway.
  • 2nd Finland.
  • 3rd Iceland.
  • 4th Denmark.
  • 5th Luxembourg.

The five countries below the index are-

  • 166th Iraq
  • 167th Pakistan.
  • 168th Yemen.
  • 169th Syria.
  • 170th Afghanistan.


The index emphasizes three basic issues.

  • Inclusion.
  • Fairness.
  • Security.

The security indicators are-

  • Husband or partner abuse.
  • Social Security.
  • Structural violence.
