International Desk: All primary schools have been declared closure from Saturday due to the extreme level of air pollution in Delhi of India.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal advised children to stay at home on Friday.
Primary schools will open only when the air in the state is fit to take breathe. Though the secondary schools are open but the students have been prohibited from staying in the open premises of the school, the Delhi administration said.

The Chief Minister of Delhi said that schools of higher primary, secondary or higher secondary level are not being closed. However, it should be ensured that the students of the institutions which are not closed do not spend time in open areas outside the school.
Besides keeping pollution in mind, it is being considered to introduce even-odd rules on Delhi's highways, he said.
There are 2,755 primary schools in the capital Delhi. Besides, there are 939 upper primary schools, 377 secondary schools and 1,684 higher secondary schools. Primary schools will be closed from Saturday.

Delhi authorities said that Delhi's air quality index stood at 426 due to smoke from farm fires in neighboring states and vehicular emissions.
Besides, adverse weather conditions have played an important role for increasing pollution levels in the capital. An air quality index between 401 and 500 is classified as severe. As such, Delhi's air quality is now at critical levels.

The Commission of Air Quality Management has decided to implement a four-level 'Action Plan' in the capital in view of deteriorating air quality.
