6,524 killed in road last year

Sun News Desk : At least 6,524 people were killed and 11,407 injured in road accidents in 2023.

Prof AI Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, chairman of Road Safety Foundation, revealed the information at a press conference at its Dhanmondi office in the capital today.

He said of the deceased, 1,128 (17.29 percent) were children and 974 (14.92 per cent) women.

Besides, a total of 2,487 were killed in 2,532 motorcycle related accidents in last year.

Last year, the number of accidents in the country increased compared to the last year (2022), but the number of deaths decreased.
